Applicant Selection Process

Criteria for selection to the BEGINNING TRACK is based upon a point system. A minimum of 95 points is required for an application to be considered.  Points are given on the following criteria:

  1. Grade point average calculated on courses required for Program.
  2. Scores on the Rose State College COMPASS Assessment tests.
  3. Health care experience.
  4. Completion of college courses that apply to the Nursing Science degree.
  5. Completion of 15 hours or more course work at RSC or living/working in the Mid/Del technology district.

Candidates are numerically ranked based upon the criteria listed above. Applicants are notified of their admission status generally toward the end of May and early December for the respective application period.

The CAREER LADDER TRACK is for students who are already licensed practical nurses (LPNs) or nationally registered paramedics.  Some military medics can also qualify for admission to the Career Ladder Track.  Criteria for selection to this track is also based upon a point system.  A minimum of 32 points is required for an application to be considered.  Points are given for the following criteria:

  1. Grade point average calculated on courses required for Program.
  2. Scores on the Rose State College COMPASS Assessment tests.
  3. Completion of 15 hours or more course work at RSC or living/working in the Mid/Del technology district.

Candidates are numerically ranked based upon the criteria listed above.  Applicants are notified of their admission status generally toward the end of May and early December for the respective application period.
