Child Development Center

The Child Development Laboratory Center opened June 1st, 1983 and is licensed by the Oklahoma State Department of Human Services with a two-star rating and is seeking accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

The CDLC serves the community as a child care facility and also provides a laboratory setting for Rose State College students enrolled in the Family Services/Child Development Program.

We offer full time care for children ages three months to five years or until a child is ready to start kindergarten.

Teaching staff qualifications include Masters degree, Bachelors degree, Associates degree, CDA credential and certificate of Mastery. Staff includes eleven teachers, a cook, a secretary, assistant director and the director.

Our main objective is to provide a positive atmosphere, which will promote the social, physical, intellectual and emotional growth of children. Learning experiences appropriate for the developmental age of each group are provided daily.

Children need to feel good about themselves! To enhance a child's feelings of self-worth, our staff use positive guidance techniques. The daily schedule includes breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack; large and small group interaction which helps children to cooperate, listen and share; self-selected activities which stimulate cognitive growth and creativity, as well as emotional and social development; and outdoor activities which help develop social, large and small motor skills.

Our Center includes four classrooms, an activity room, and three outdoor learning environments. Parents are welcome to observe anytime.

A daily report is filled out on each child by the teacher and given to the parents. This report informs the parent of the activities their child enjoyed, how well they ate and rested, their behavior, and other information. Menus and lesson plans are posted. A monthly newsletter is posted on the Rose State College Web site and available in the office and  advises of upcoming events, birthdays, study themes and other announcements.

Parent meetings and parent conferences are scheduled twice a year.

You are welcome to visit the Center anytime. If you are interested in your child attending the CDLC, you may come to the center to fill out a wait list card.
