MUSEUM CRITIQUES

You are to visit three ART museums and write a critique about the museum as well as one selected work of art. Identify the date and location of the museum. As you enter the museum, what are your thoughts about the exterior. Describe it to me. Inside, how is the work displayed? Is the lighting adequate? Do they allow photography? Is there a bookstore to buy prints, etc? Is there an information booth and is it easy to navigate through the displays. Are the art pieces identified? Do they have any educational information accompanying them? Is this exhibit of one period, multiple periods, what country, one artist or multiple artists.

In critiquing the selected work of art, identify the title, artist, period and describe in detail its features. What is its size and scale? What made you attracted to this piece? Describe its colors, type of art, and the artist's techniques. I want you to draw a mental picture for me with words. I should be able to visualize this without having seen it. Please type this, double-spaced and turn in as you finish them. If you do not attend the field trip to Dallas, TX with the group, I have listed a few approved museums to visit.

Worth), Amon Carter Museum (Ft. Worth) and Ft. Worth Museum of Modern Art.
