Global Oklahoma - a festival of cultures is an annual event on the Rose State College campus. The festival brings together the cultures of the world to promote appreciation and understanding of the peoples of the world and Oklahoma's rich and diverse heritage. This appreciation and understanding is developed through exhibits, entertainment, food, school displays, and art.
Global Oklahoma - a festival of cultures is an educational event. Through looking, listening, and participating, young and old alike have the opportunity to gain knowledge of the world today, as well as traditions of the past. There is a Children's Tent which focuses activities specifically for young children. All activities are on the College Mall or on the first floor in buildings, so all activities are accessible to handicapped individuals.
As an educational festival, Global Oklahoma - a festival of cultures does not invite or encourage commercial vendors unless they are culturally based and willing to add the educational dimensions to their exhibit or activity. Non-culturally based arts and crafts are not included in the festival.
Publicity for the festival is distributed throughout the metropolitan area, but special emphasis is placed on promotion in Eastern Oklahoma County. Publicity includes literature, audio presentations, video presentations, and press releases.
