Green Healthcare

 

Rose State Green Healthcare Training Consortium, funded in whole or in part by funds from the U.S. Department of Labor as Administered by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce’s Green Oklahoma program. To participate in this program you must meet the initial selection criterion.

1. Be at least 18 years old

2. Have a high school diploma or GED

3. Live in Oklahoma

4. Attend one of the following eligibility sessions*:

Connie’s 3 hour Life Skills and Career Readiness Class will be offered (2nd step)

Space is limited to 25 people per session. *Each session will consist of a 30 minute overview, and 3 computerized assessments. The computerized assessments are scored and individuals must earn at learn least 4 of 7 points on each assessment to be considered for inclusion in this highly competitive program.

Some of you may have attended an orientation session last year and provided us with documentation at that time. YOU ARE REQUIRED to attend one of the above sessions and complete the assessments with the minimum scores shown above. If you have not already provided us with documentation please do so when you attend one of the above assessment times.

Your final acceptance into this program is contingent upon verification of your eligibility. We will double check your documentation on the first day of class. This grant is a Federal grant and has certain guidelines on document required to determine eligibility.

Documentation you need to bring:
1. You should have already provided two forms of identification (1 must be a government issued photo ID).
a. Driver’s License, Military ID, Social Security Card, Voter ID, Birth Certificate
2. Additionally, if you are a veteran we need a copy of your DD214.
3. If you are the spouse of a veteran we need proof of that also.
4. If you live in Oklahoma County please provide us with proof of residency in the county (a utility bill in your name, a mortgage document, a lease agreement, a pay stub with your street address on it, a voter ID card, or bank statement).

NOTE: Not all students will be attending the same sessions. You may have a friend or know someone who is scheduled to attend at a different time and different location, do not worry. Everyone is receiving the same consideration. We have been swamped with calls and emails. Ms. Virginia Thomas (vthomas@rose.edu) is in charge of all registrations.

The Green Healthcare Training Program includes the following certificate classes. the Green Healthcare Tools class will be an on-line class. The Green Healthcare Technician class will be taught in the class room. 

Green Healthcare Tools Certification (100 + participants) – An orientation to introduce healthcare employees to green ideas, standards, and policies. Based upon an assessment of the employer’s energy footprint, the workshop provides the operational tools and techniques for improvement in energy conservation and waste stream reduction. The training is applicable to all levels of the healthcare team.

Expected start date: April, 2012                          Training Duration: 16 Hours

Green Healthcare Technician Certification (100 participants) – A green training program specifically designed for incumbent and future healthcare technicians, this comprehensive learning program addresses operational practices including: patient care services, identifying environmental waste, understanding the environmental impact of waste, reducing the medical waste stream, reducing energy and water usage, how to find environmental safe alternatives, understanding and utilizing 5S+1, green medical purchasing, understanding an utilizing environmental metrics, green customer service, and identifying and using available resources.
