Hear Our Cry: Boys in Crisis - Workshop is Filled - Registration is Closed

Hear our Cry: Boys in Crisis is a one-day professional development workshop for Oklahoma teachers and student teachers.  The goals of the workshop are to raise the awareness of educational and emotional needs of male students, and how boys learn.
The workshop, Hear Our Cry: Boys in Crisis, is one of Dr. Ruby Payne’s professional development programs.  Payne is one of the nation’s leading teaching experts.  By the end of the program, participants will have a better understanding of the reasoning behind male behavior in school and what schools can do to begin making school more boy friendly.  Boys are 90 percent of the discipline problems in school and constitute the largest population in special education, Title I, and those who have reading and writing problems.  Boys are more likely to commit violent acts in school, more likely to drop out, and are five times more likely to be expelled than girls.  Issues that impact boys who come from poverty as well as middle class will be explored during the workshop as well.

Participants will receive six continuing education units for successfully completing the program and completing the pre and post test.
