Mass Communications
This degree program includes journalism, photography, and broadcasting. Our campus is fortunate to have its own TV studio. Students will cover activities and special events on campus, building their "live" portfolios. The photography program includes both wet darkroom and digital photography courses.
Modern Languages
Intermediate proficiency in French, German, or Spanish is available, along with courses in the history and culture of the related language. Students are well prepared to pursue a bachelor's degree at a four-year institution.
Music
Classes are small and faculty will nurture development of musicianship in order for all students to reach their potential. Private lessons are offered in piano, voice, guitar, strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. There are also opportunities for students to perform as part of various ensembles. Foundation courses in theory and harmony are required.
Music Engineering and Industry
The Music Engineering & Industry area specializes in preparing engineers, managers, and producers for immediate entry into today’s music industry or for transfer to a bachelor's degree program. Upon graduation, students will be equipped with the most up-to-date knowledge and skill sets necessary to become successful and maintain those successes in their industry pursuits. This program’s curriculum emphasizes real-world, practical, and hands-on experiences and provides opportunities for immediate application of the information delivered in the classroom and abroad. The capstone of this program, which coincides with the development and completion of a portfolio, is an internship with an industry company (label, studio, sound production company, firm, etc.).
Theatre
In addition to acting, students gain hands-on experience in such areas as scene painting, set building, and makeup. Four shows are produced every year. Students learn the nature of producing each show as well as building organization, teamwork, and leadership skills. Faculty and staff work closely with students in all aspects of the discipline.
