An information science/library camp
for Oklahoma middle school students 2007-2009Join the fun...July 13-19, 2008 -- The second Information Matrix Camp is planned for Oklahoma middle-schoolers (ages 12-14). We will be staying at an area hotel in Midwest City. Most of our evening activities will be at the Midwest City Public Library. Camp activities include--
Visiting an exciting variety of libraries around the metropolitan area...OU Bizzell Library, Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library, National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism, and many others.
Journaling, scrapbooking and blogging our adventures.
Watching library-related movies.
Finding out about librarians who don't fit the librarian stereotype.
Playing games and swimming.
Library scavenger hunt.
Learning what happens in a "normal" library.
Oh, yes, there's eating, too.

Send them along with your check for $50. Your check will be returned, if you are not accepted because of space limitations. Cancellations may be made up to June 1 for full refund. (Food, transportation, and housing are finalized at this time.)

DEADLINE EXTENDED to MAY 7--The application includes information about you and a recommendation from a librarian. (Both of these are important in the selection process. Another secondary criteria will be geographic distribution from around the state.) The health form and food preferences may be submitted after acceptance to the camp. There is a limit of 30 participants each summer. Participants will be notified by May 15.
A three-year grant was received from the Institute of Museum and Library Services by Rose State College and the Oklahoma Library Association. The grant covers transportation, lodging, and entrance fees. The registration cost ($50) is for food with additional assistance from other organizations.
