Rose State Finishes the Season Strong with a Win

Midwest City, OK - Rose State College (12-4) defeated Eastern Oklahoma State College (2-13) on Tuesday, October 28th.

The Raiders took the lead when Ruben Pillado scored a diving header off of a free kick from Jonathan Flores. The Raiders made it 2-0 when Christian Salas scored a header from Jonathan’s corner. This was Salas’ first goal of the season.

Eastern brought the score to within 1 when Samuel Iraburo scored. The two sides went into halftime with the score being 2-1.

The Raiders got back onto the board when Will Allen scored his second goal of the season. He scored from the ground off of a bouncing ball. The final goal, to make the game 3-2, came from Eastern’s Andrew Rivera when he beat Aidan Wright.

The Rose State Raiders will take to the field again in the Region 2 tournament on Saturday, November 1st. They will participate in the Semi-finals against NEO A&M in Miami, OK.

Rose State defeats #19 Northern Oklahoma College - Tonkawa

Midwest City, OK - Rose State College (10-4-1) rolled over Northern Oklahoma College (15-2-1) on Sunday, October 26th.

The two sides went into the half with the score being 0-0 despite both teams having chances. Rose State’s Cesar Aguirre and Jacob Rector both had shots on goal in the first half but could not find the back of the net. Aidan Wright had to make three saves in the first half to keep the score at zero.

The score finally broke in the second half when Rickardo Oldham of NOC beat Wright on a ball that went over the defender’s head. The ball bounced in the box and Rickardo blasted it past Wright.

The Raiders evened the score when Will Allen scored with less than 3 minutes left in the game. Cesar Aguirre took the ball past half field and cut it back to his right foot. He sent a searching cross that beat the defenders of NOC and found Will Allen in the box. Allen placed the ball over the keepers head with his right foot and tallied his first goal of the season.

With the score being 1-1, the game went into overtime. With only 1 minute and 43 seconds gone, Issac McCay found Jacob Rector who scored the game winning goal. Rector beat two defenders and curled the ball around the keeper into the top corner of the goal. This was Jacob’s second game winner of the season.

The Rose State Raiders will finish with their last game of the season at Home on October 28th at 4pm.

ROSE STATE vs EASTERN - Oct. 21

Midwest City, OK -
Rose State College (9-4-1) played Eastern Oklahoma State College on Tuesday October, 21st. The game got to an early start as Eastern jumped on the board a goal in the 16th minute. Rose State responded quickly when Cesar Aguirre put one in the back of the net 4 minutes later. Haydn Jones collected the assist. Harrison Sikes moved the score to 2-1 when he took a pass from Scott Close and beat the keeper. Rose State found their third goal of the half with 9 minutes to go when Cesar scored his second of the game. Harrison Sikes received his first assist of the game.
The second half was scoreless until the 90th minute when Jonathan Flores scored his first goal of the season. Harrison Sikes collected his second assist of the game. The game finished with a final score of 4-1
Aidan Wright played all 90 minutes in goal.
The Rose State Raiders travel to NOC on Sunday October 26th in one of the last matches of the regular season.

ROSE STATE vs NORTHERN OKLAHOMA (TONKAWA) - Oct. 3

Midwest City, OK - Rose State College (7-3-1) fought against Northern Oklahoma College (Tonkawa) on Sunday at 3pm. The Raiders fell 1-0 after keeping NOC scoreless for 55 minutes.

The first half produced good chances for both teams and was evenly matched but neither could find the back of the net. Gavin Hale had a chance to take the score 1-0 when Jarret Wingfield put a ball across the frame of goal, but he could not beat Robert Molina who was in goal. Both teams received 3 corner kicks in the first half but could not capitalize. The two sides went into half with the score 0-0.

Northern broke the score when Theo Ostas scored on Aidan Wright in the 55th minute. The goal came from the left side when Theo pushed ball to the inside of the field and put a shot on goal with his right foot. Aidan Wright was caught the wrong way and this would lead to the only goal of the game. Jarret Wingfield had a couple chances to equalize late into the second half but could not seem to get the ball on frame.

Wright and Molina both played all 90 minutes in goal and collected saves. This loss moved the Raiders to 2-2 in conference play. Rose will take on NEO A&M on Sunday, October 12th at NEO in another big conference game.

ROSE STATE vs RANGER - Oct. 3

Ranger, TX - Rose State College (7-2-1) traveled to Ranger, TX to take on Ranger College. The game started with both sides keeping the score to 0-0 despite having shots on goal. Haydn, Cesar, Harrison & Rector all put shots on goal but could not find the back of the net. The two sides went into half-time with the game still being scoreless.

Ranger came out ready to play when Lionel Ventura put the ball past Aidan Wright in the 56th minute. Ranger scored again thirteen minutes later when Rose committed a foul inside the 18 and gave up a penalty kick. Jesus Serrano beat Wright to make the score 2-0. The third and final goal came with 7 minutes left in the game when Carlos Ronilla scored off of a corner kick that did not get cleared.

The Raiders finished the game with 10 shots but could not beat Raul Padilla who played all 90 minutes in goal. Aidan Wright received the start and played all 90 minutes as well.

Rose State takes to the field again in a conference game on the 5th of October against Northern Oklahoma College at home at 3pm.

ROSE STATE vs PARIS - Sept. 30

Midwest City, OK - The Raiders (7-2-1) got back on track with a decisive 3-0 win against Paris Junior College at Rose State.

The game remained scoreless even as Cesar Aguirre, Harrison Sikes and Jacob Rector all put shots on Paris’s goalkeeper, Joey D’Arcy. However, the Raiders kept shooting and took the lead in the 20th minute when Gavin Hale found the back of the net. Almost 20 minutes later, Sikes put one past the keeper after he received a cross from Jarret Wingfield. This was Sikes 7th goal of the season. Only 5 minutes later, right before half, Jacob Rector put in his 6th goal of the season after Blake Walker threw the ball in to make the score 3-0.

The Raiders would not score again despite having many chances in the second half and ending the game with 10 shots. Aidan Wright was able to grab his second clean sheet of the season and played all 90 minutes in goal.

Rose State travels to Ranger, TX on October 3rd to play a tough match versus a team they took down only 2-1 earlier in the season.

ROSE STATE vs NEO A&M - Sept. 23

Midwest City, OK. - Rose State College (6-1-1) suffered their first loss of the season to NEO A&M (4-2-1) on Tuesday and moved to 2-1 in conference play. NEO broke the score when they put the ball past Aidan Wright in the 19th minute. The Raiders responded with shots on goal from Cesar Aguirre, Joe Keeley, Harrison Sikes, and Gavin Hale but they could not find the back of the net. The two sides went into half with the score being 1-0.

The second half was controlled by Rose State as they put more shots on goal and finished the game with 11 corner kicks while NEO finished with 2 corner kicks. However, NEO scored again when they found themselves on a breakaway and finished it past Wright in the 62nd minute. This would end up being the final score despite all the chances that Rose State had.

The Raiders will take to the field again in Chickasha on Friday, September 26th, at 2pm.

ROSE STATE vs MURRAY STATE - Sept. 20

Ardmore, OK - The win against Murray State moved the Raiders to 6-0-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. The first goal came in the 22nd minute when Jacob took a pass from Christian Salas. The second goal came in the 41st minute when Will played the ball to Harrison who put it in the back of the net. Cesar moved the score to 3-0 when he scored two minutes later. Cesar’s first goal was assisted by Harrison.

Aidan Wright played all 90 minutes and finished the game with 5 saves. Coach Martin commented on the game, “It’s important to win games on the road. This is a good win against a side that we had seen a week earlier. We have to keep moving the ball and begin to prepare for the next game.”

ROSE STATE vs MURRAY STATE - Sept. 13

Midwest City, OK - The win against Murray State moved the Raiders to 5-0-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The first goal came after 33 minutes when Joe Keeley scored after receiving a pass from Haydn Jones. Keeley cut the ball inside on his right foot, and scored from outside the eighteen. Twelve minutes later, Issac McCay put one in the net and was assisted by Scott Close. The last two goals in the first half were scored by Harrison Sikes coming in the 35th minute and the 43rd minute while being assisted by Jarre
