Ardmore Mercy Program

Rose State's Ardmore Respiratory Therapy Program

This is a two year degree consisting of one year of pre-requisite courses, and one year of professional courses. The professional respiratory therapy courses may be taken on the Rose State Campus or at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore.

Respiratory Therapy courses (HSRT) are offered during the day only. General Education and basic science courses are offered during the day, or evening. Ardmore students can take pre-requisite courses through Murray State College at the Ardmore Higher Education Center.

Job Market/Salary-Starting salaries for new graduates in the Oklahoma City area range from $18.00 to $30.00 per hour depending on full-time employment with benefits, weekend/shift differential per diem employment. Salary in the Ardmore area is competitive with the Oklahoma City and Dallas areas. According to the U.S. Department of Labor and Statistics, employment of respiratory therapists is expected to grow 21percent from 2008 to 2018, faster than average for all occupations.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) exams. These consist of the entry CRT exam (Certified Respiratory Therapist) and the RRT exam (Registered Respiratory Therapist). Licensure in Oklahoma requires passing the NBRC entry-exam (CRT).
