Which class should I take?
• 1003/1013 - Conversational French, Spanish, Russian, or German – These are basic classes that give students an introduction to the language. Emphasis in these classes is on conversation, however that does not mean that there will be no writing involved. Conversational classes may or may not be accepted for transfer by four-year institutions.
o SPAN 1042 - Medical Spanish – This course emphasizes practical conversation relating to medical situations.
o SPAN 1052 - Spanish for Law Enforcement - This course emphasizes practical conversation relating to law enforcement topics. Individuals associate with law enforcement including police, fire, and 911 personnel might be interested in this course.
• 1115/1225 - Elementary French, Spanish, or German – These are introductory courses in the languages that provide students a well-rounded experience in the language through speaking, listening, reading, writing, and culture.
• 2113/2223 - Intermediate French, Spanish, or German – At the intermediate level, students synthesize what they have learned at the elementary level while learning higher-level grammar to increase their ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• SPAN 1261/2161 – Spanish Immersion I and II – This weekend class offers students the opportunity to use what they have learned in the classroom in an intensive immersion of the language. No English is spoken during the weekend filled with various activities designed to get students using the language.
