Microfilm Photocopies

RSC faculty and staff may request photocopies of articles from periodicals/newspapers owned by the RSC Library* by completing paper forms located at the Reference Desk (located on the first floor in the LRC) or by using our Web-based Library Request Form. (See bottom of page.) Copies will be forwarded by campus mail or may be picked up in the Copy Shop (located in the LRC Reference Area). If requested articles are available electronically, staff will notify the requestor where he/she may obtain the article.

The Library will make one copy of a magazine/journal or newspaper article from the library collections with a limit of three requests per person, per day, but it must be job related. (Faculty/staff may make their own personal copies @ 10 cents per page.)

Turnaround time for articles to be copied and returned through campus mail is three working days or 24 hours, if you prefer to pick them up. (You will be called or emailed when they are ready.)

*Please check our Interlibrary Loan Department for information about ordering materials that are not in the RSC Library Collection. To determine if the items are in the collection, check the Ejournal/Journal List.

COPYRIGHT LAW

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code), governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order, if, in its judgment fulfillment of the order would involve violation of the copyright law.
