How to Use the Rose State College Print Screen Utility

At Rose State College, every faculty and staff Windows session runs the Screen Print Utility. This handy utility allows a person to take a picture of either the screen or of a specific window that is open in Windows so that it can be printed to a desired printer or captured to the Windows clipboard.

First, you have to be able to identify the program icon to be able to use it. It is in the system tray area in the lower right corner of your Windows desktop area. It is a little, white rectangular icon with a capital letter “A” in the middle of it. If you have too many icons in your system tray area, you may need to have to press the “<” symbol to expand that area so that you can see all of the system tray icons.

Next, just click on the icon in the system tray area and you will see the Print Screen Utility window appear.

When selecting to capture a screen image to the Windows Clip Board you see:

 

When selecting to print a screen image to your default Windows printer you see:

Then simply select whether you would like for the output to be sent to the default Windows printer or captured as a graphic image in the Windows clipboard. Finally, select to either capture/print a window that is open in Windows or a complete screen snapshot of your Windows session.
