“The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew.”
Abraham Lincoln’s sage advice to think anew and act anew serves as the perfect metaphor for what students will experience in the Social Sciences Division at Rose State College. The Social Sciences represent an assortment of disciplines that seek to tease out the interrelationships between people and the society in which they live. The specialties within this analytical framework include traditional fields such as history, sociology, and psychology, as well as newer fields of inquiry like criminal justice and child development. We offer degrees in all of these areas, and our entire Division seeks to make the student experience a rich one that broadens horizons and acclimates participants to the collegiate experience.
Our faculty inspires students to reach their full potential by offering exciting courses that make use of the latest technological and pedagogical advancements. The result is a well-rounded education that approaches complex issues from a variety of modes of analysis: the social, the political, and the economic. Our graduates emerge from their programs in Social Sciences ready to transfer to the university setting seamlessly or begin work in their chosen fields immediately.
Please take a moment, peruse our website, and consider stopping by to learn more about our programs and faculty. You will be glad that you did, as you will begin to “think anew.”
