Special Collections

Special Collections Room

The Rose State College Special Collections is housed in LRC 122. The collection includes some of the College's official and historic documents, some publications by Rose State faculty and staff, and all issues of Pegasus. Recent issues of the 15th Street News are now in the collection, and are indexed for access on the Reference Area computers. Current issues are indexed and added as they are published; back issues will be added as they are indexed. The Collection is being built and cataloged as an ongoing project. Collection Development policies and Circulation and Access policies are explained in the Policy Statement. Access to the collection is provided in LRC 122 during the hours the Learning Resources Center is open.

Mission

To establish a collection of materials that includes publications by and about Rose State College faculty and staff, official documents and historical materials on the college, important biographical materials on RSC people, and other materials appropriate to the collection; to establish procedures for acquiring materials; to catalog, preserve, and provide in-house access to the materials for research purposes for the RSC Learning Resources Center clientele. To create and maintain an index to the 15th Street News, and other indexes as needed.

Location and Hours

Access to the collection is provided in LRC 122 during the hours the Learning Resources Center is open. Reading and research facilities are provided in LRC 122.

Collection Development Policies

Collect as comprehensively as possible college catalogs, brochures, official publications, annual reports, a complete run of the 15th Street News, Pegasus, and all regularly published RSC documents and publications. The collection may include artwork, graphics, videos, computer generated presentations, and other significant publications created or authored by RSC people, appropriate to the mission of the collection. Acquisitions of materials should be systematized to include all divisions throughout the campus that produce publications. All materials will be fully cataloged for author, title, subject, and keyword access on Voyager, the integrated library system. Indexes will be in separate databases.
