Tara Kay Hall is a Professor of Sociology at Rose State College where she has been a faculty member since 2012.  She attended the University of Oklahoma where she earned both a Bachelors of Arts and Masters of Arts in Sociology. During her studies she developed a passion for the areas of Family and Criminology. These topics eventually became her areas of specialization and building blocks for her dissertation which examines how the media and cultural beliefs about motherhood impact people’s perceptions of mothers who use methamphetamines.

Tara has taught several courses at Rose State College and the University of Oklahoma including Introduction to Sociology, Families and Society, Families and Substance Abuse, Sex and Gender, Crime and Delinquency, and The Criminal Justice System. Her areas of interest include drugs and the family, gender, incarceration, social deviance, social stratification, and gender and crime.

As a full-time faculty member at Rose State College she is a member of several committees including the Rose State Women’s Leadership Conference Committee, the Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign Committee, and the SMART Summer Bridge Program. Additionally she is a member of the American Sociological Association, the American Society of Criminology, the Society for the Study of Social Problems, and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
