General Information
The courses offered by the Art Department at Rose State College provide students
with a solid foundation in art. Students obtaining an Associate
in Arts Degree may elect to transfer to a four-year college
or university for further study, enter the job market with
basic skills, or just enjoy creative activity. Each student
is unique with his or her own specific needs and objectives;
therefore, our program is compatible with the institution's
mission of meeting individual educational goals.
With Rose State College joining the World Wide Web, the Art Department is exploring new ways to reach those students and professionals wanting to take courses online. We offer two distance learning options in art appreciation; one is the traditional telecourse, and our new one is a CD-ROM version. The student must have a computer, Internet server and e-mail. Only orientation and tests will be on campus. We are striving to meet the needs of the traditional student, as well as the non-traditional one.
The impressive Communications Building is
the home of the Art Department. There are three specialty
rooms for ceramics, drawing and painting, and a computer
lab fully equipped with the latest technology. Plenty of
display areas are provided for student displays and exhibits
in the Communications Center, the Humanities Building and
the Fine Arts Theater.
The Art Department continues to grow and flourish with a congenial and dynamic faculty. Full-time faculty and adjunct faculty bring experience, enthusiasm and individual talent to create a well-rounded and diversified art curriculum. Students receive personalized instruction at every level. Courses such as Special Topics in Art provide the students with the opportunity to develop more advanced skills, while the basic art courses are open to any interested student.
