Most students enrolling at Rose State College are not required to take the ACT. Some of the reasons a student might need an ACT are:

• applying for scholarships
• concurrent high school students preparing to enroll
• health science majors
• students for whom English is not their first language
• removing course deficiencies

Students entering the College for the first time who have not taken the ACT exams or who have scored below 19 on an ACT subtest will be required to take the Rose State assessment exam (COMPASS) for placement into courses.

Residual ACT:

Students planning to enroll at Rose State College who have missed a National ACT test date may take the ACT residual given on the third Thursday of each month at 12:30 p.m. in the Student Services Building*. One week advanced registration is required in the Student Services Test Center, room 210. Scores from ACT residual testing will be valid only at this institution. No score report is generated except to the Rose State Admissions Office.

National ACT:

Rose State College administers the National ACT on all five test offerings. National scores may be used at any institution. Students who wish to register for the National ACT test may do so online.
