Graphing

Most graphing operations are performed using the five blue buttons at the very top of the keypad. Their functions are listed below.

Setting the Window and Graphing A Function

Push the WINDOW button and use the arrow keys to change the settings to match the following.

Tracing

While looking at the graph, hit TRACE. You will notice that the bottom of the screen contains the coordinates X=0 and Y=5. As you move left or right (by using the arrow keys) you will see these coordinates change as the cursor moves. However, the coordinates are rather messy -- for example, one point on the graph is X=1.0638298, Y=7.2176596. What is you want to know what happens when X is exactly 1? While using the TRACE feature, just hit the 1 button on the main keypad, then hit ENTER. The cursor is now located at X=1, Y=7. Try this again by entering some other numbers like 4 or negative 5.

Zooming

To zoom in on a certain part of the graph, type ZOOM 2 . You will notice the graph has not changed. The calculator is waiting for you to tell it what part of the line you would like to zoom in on. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor anywhere on the screen. Then hit ENTER. You are now looking at a portion of the original graph up close. To zoom out, simply push Zoom 3 ENTER.
