Remembering JFK and His Legacy 50 Years Later Events

 View the 1962 Tour of the White House with Jackie Kennedy.
Monday, November 18th at 12:30 p.m. in room 109/110 of the LRC

This first of its kind, inside look at the White House aired to over 58 million people on national television.

The Unspoken Speech
Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. in the H.B. Atkinson Theatre

See a reenactment of the speech President Kennedy was to give on November 22, 1963, but never had the opportunity to give. The UNSPOKEN SPEECH will be delivered by Rose State drama student D’Vonte Stewart who played Jonas in the recent performance of The Giver.

Tickets are required for admission to the UNSPOKEN SPEECH, but tickets are FREE. Tickets (250) will be available at the Information Desk in the LRC on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of tickets may be available at the door of the theatre on the day of the speech.

See the film Image of an Assassination: a New Look at the Zapruder Film. Thursday, November 21st at 12:30 p.m. in room 109/110 of the LRC
The video taken by Abraham Zapruder, a Dallas dress manufacturer, is the only known video recording of the assassination of President Kennedy. Image of an Assassination: a New Look at the Zapruder Film traces the history of the recorded Zapruder recording of this remarkable historical event from November 22, 1963 till its complete restoration and digitization in 1998.

Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys Events:

Dr. Robert Carpenter, Professor of Religious Studies at Oklahoma Christian University will be speaking on,
“MUSLIMS in TODAY’S AMERICA: OPPORTUNITIES and CHALLENGES”.


Free Middle Eastern music concert

Thursday October 10 at 7 p.m. in the H.B. Atkinson Theatre.

The concert features the music of Ali Soltani and Doosdahn. Ali Soltani, of Edmond, is a seasoned performer on violin, viola, and “oud”—the ancient lute-like instrument that is believed to be the precursor to the guitar. Using his unique talents and understanding of the oud, he has combined Eastern and Western music into an exciting and unusual blend in various settings, classical and non-classical. Ali Soltani will be performing with Danielle Soltani, Francisco Venegas, Kristen Swartley, and Elizabeth Fairchild. The event is open to the public, no reservations required.
