Then you might be the perfect fit for Rowdy the Raider.

Rowdy is the official Rose State College mascot, is serves as a branding and promotion opportunity for the college. Rowdy attends RSC athletic events, pep rallies, student events, ribbon cuttings, parades and more!

Rose State College gives two students each year the opportunity to be Rowdy, with each student qualifying (during their term as Rowdy) for a tuition waiver good for up to 12 hours per semester.

Rowdy Raider Mascot Try-outs Information

Description: Rose State College is seeking students to serve as Rowdy the Raider. Students will perform tryouts specifically for this position.

Responsibilities of Student Supported Mascot:

Students will serve a term of two semesters in the role as Rowdy the Raider mascot.
Commit to appearances at campus and community events to promote school spirit.
Assist in creating routines for promotional entertainment.
Personally interact with Raider students/ faculty/ staff and fans.
Maintain Rowdy the Raider costume.
Ability to access transportation to and from off-campus events.

Requirements:

Ability and commitment to work scheduled event dates, including outside of semesters in necessary; ability and commitment to work extensive night and weekend schedule as required;
And the successful student must be currently enrolled at Rose State College in good academic and disciplinary standing.

Qualifications:

Motivated individual with the desire to gain experience in enhancing school spirit.
Outgoing and creative personality with a willingness and desire to have fun.
Willingness to perform wacky promotional activities on the field and in the community.
Willingness to represent Rose State College, and our mission and core values, in a positive manner on and off campus.

Selection Process:

Selected applicants will be required to try out for the position by performing a creative routine in the mascot costume/head. Music for the routine will be provided for applicants.
Props may be brought in by applicants to use during the tryout. The tryout score sheet is attached for reference.

Based on the tryouts, a committee will choose the student(s) who will fulfill the role of Rowdy the Raider. All decisions of the Committee will be final. Announcements will go out regarding tryouts during the first week of classes (fall semester) with tryouts taking place the second week of classes. Committee to be determined but it is preferred to have a representative from the following: student affairs, athletics, and marketing. The term of service is for two semesters (Fall-Spring). Students may be Rowdy more than one year, but most participate in the selection process each year.
