General Education Requirements

Listed below are courses which may be taken before entering the CODING SPECIALIST CERTIFICATE Program. If a student can not complete all of the curriculum in one year, it is recommended that the following be taken first, then apply to the program to the HSHI courses.

HSBC 1113 Medical Terminology
A pre-requisite to HSHI 2203 Coding I. Therefore, it MUST be taken before entering the program.

HSBC 1104 Anatomy and Physiology  *May take HSBC 2114 and BIOL 2424
A pre-requisite to HSHI 2203 Coding I. Therefore, it MUST be taken before entering the program.

HSBC 2103 Human Pathology 
A pre-requisite to HSHI 2424 Coding II. Therefore, it MUST be taken before entering the program or during the first semester of the program.
