General Education Requirements

Listed below are courses which may be taken before entering the CODING SPECIALIST CERTIFICATE Program. If a student can not complete all of the curriculum in one year, it is recommended that the following be taken first, then apply to the program to the HSHI courses.

HSBC 1113 Medical Terminology Medical Terminology
A pre-requisite to HSHI 2203 Coding I. Therefore, it MUST be taken before entering the program.

HSBC 1104 Anatomy and Physiology 
HSBC 1104 Anatomy and Physiology may be taken ahead or must be taken concurrently with HSHI 2203 Coding 1.

HSBC 2103 Human Pathology 
HSBC 2103 Human Pathology may be taken ahead or must be taken concurrently with HSHI 2423 Coding II.
