CQ Researcher (Periodical Collection; First Floor)

CQ Researcher is a periodical that presents timely topics in each issue. It is located in the periodical section, under the letters, CQ. Older issues are under the name Congressional Quarterly Editorial Research Reports.

General Encyclopedias (Reference; AE Section; Online)

General encyclopedias are a good resource to begin your research. Often you will find a good overview article on your topic, with an outline and sometimes a bibliography. The online version of Encyclopedia Britannica is available any where on campus.

Online Card Catalog

The online card catalog is an index to the library’s books and audiovisual materials. You may search the catalog from any computer with Internet access. The online card catalog can be searched in a variety of ways most notably by TITLE, AUTHOR, SUBJECT, and KEYWORD.

Online Databases

NewsBank Databases (Available only on-campus.)

Many of the country’s largest newspapers, including the Daily Oklahoman and Tulsa World, are available through NewsBank. NewsBank, is an online database service provider and can be accessed from any computer on campus. Articles from the Daily Oklahoman and Tulsa World are retrospective to 1982; older issues (1903-) are available on microfilm.

SIRS (REF AG500; Online)

The SIRS notebooks contain articles from both periodicals and newspapers. The articles address social issues, such as, family, world hunger, environment, aging, etc. SIRS is available both in print and online. You can access the SIRS online version from any computer on campus.

EBSCOhost Databases

EBSCOhost is an online database service provider and is available from any computer with Internet access. The online databases provide indexing and full-text articles from periodicals and newspapers. The MasterFILE Premier database within EBSCOhost contains nearly 2000 general interest magazines and journals and would be a good location to begin your research.


InfoTrac is an online database service provider and is available from any computer with Internet access. The InfoTrac databases have both full-text articles and indexing information. The Literature Resource Center database within InfoTrac contains biographical information, overviews, full-text literary criticism and reviews on more than 130,000 writers in all disciplines, from all time periods and from around the world.


Although an unorganized and unregulated resource, the Internet does contain valuable information. The library's RESEARCH LINKS would be most helpful for your research.
