PubMed is THE index for medical topics, which contains abstracts (summaries of the article). The full-text may often be found in one of the online databases or requested through interlibrary loan. PubMed may be searched from any computer with Internet access. (You will also find a link on the LRC online databases page.)
Specialized Periodical Indexes (Index Table; First Floor; Online)
Specialized periodical indexes are also available, including Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL). These are arranged alphabetically by subject and include citations of articles from specialized medical journals, such as, Nursing, JAMA, and Dental Assistant. Be sure to consult the RSC Periodical & Newspaper List when utilizing these indexes. CINAHL Plus with Full Text is also available online through the EBSCOhost database.
Online Card Catalog
The online card catalog is an index to the library’s books and audiovisual materials. You may search the catalog from any computer with Internet access. The online card catalog can be searched in a variety of ways most notably by TITLE, AUTHOR, SUBJECT, and KEYWORD.
Although an unorganized and unregulated resource, the Internet does contain valuable information.
