Sandy Stephens Selected as the 2015 Vocational Service Award Recipient Published June 25, 2015

Midwest City, OklaEach year, the Midwest City Rotary honors an individual for proven dedicated service to one’s profession. Sandy Stephens was selected as the 2015 Vocational Service Award recipient. Ms. Stephens is the coordinator for the Small Business Development Center at Rose State College.  An extraordinary professional, her impact on the local communities and her small business clients is remarkable.  For instance, in the past year she provided nearly 700 hours of consulting with 181 start-up and existing small business clients, provided training to 850 attendees, established and provided special seminars for active duty military and veterans, and developed a Small Business Certificate program. As a result of her efforts, 11 new businesses were established and 54 jobs were created or retained in 2014.  Additionally, her clients received $820,000 in SBA loans and secured eight aerospace contracts totaling $25,220,000.  Over 50% of the working population in the United States (120 million individuals) works in a small business.
