Rose State College Names New Dean Of Business Published August 21, 2015

Dr. Tippin Ready To Make His Mark

“I firmly believe in putting the needs of the students first and educating them so that they grow not only in knowledge and skill sets, but also character.”

Midwest City, Okla. – Rose State College President Jeanie Webb has named Dr. Mark Tippin as the new Dean of Business.  Standing behind a President with a vision, Tippin is excited to take a new path in his career.

Dr. Tippin is a career educator, having spent 19 years in public education as a high school math teacher at Putnam City North High School and all three Edmond high schools as well as over 14 years in higher education at both 2-year and 4-year institutions.  His degrees include a B.S. in Math Education and a B.S. in Accounting, both from the University of Central Oklahoma, a M.S. in Management from Southern Nazarene University and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with specialization in Research, Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics from Oklahoma State University.  The passion for education evidently runs in the Tippin family.  His wife Robin is also a career educator and his son Daniel currently teaches at Putnam City West High School.

Tippin’s focus is on the success of students.  “I firmly believe in putting the needs of the students first and educating them so that they grow not only in knowledge and skill sets, but also character.”  As Dean, he plans to collaborate efforts to promote and recruit for all business degree programs with a strong focus on programs with a competitive advantage.  Tippin said, “The support, enthusiasm, and willingness of the faculty and staff has far exceeded anything I could’ve dreamed about.” He also stated in an email to the business faculty that he wants to execute on the great ideas that have been brought to the table and that patience and follow through are vital to continue building the business division.

Entering his eighth year at Rose State College Tippin says, “Rose State is at a historic point…the feel this year on campus is so different, there is just so much excitement.”
