Dr. Nyla Khan will discuss her book “Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s Reflections On Kashmir”

Midwest City, Okla. – Rose State professor Dr. Nyla Khan will discuss her latest book, “Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s Reflections on Kashmir,” on Thursday, January 25. Dr. Khan’s latest book focuses on the political history of Kashmir from the eyes of key political figures. Attendees of the event will have the opportunity to order the book after the evening’s discussion.

"Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s Reflections on Kashmir” comprises a collection of speeches, interviews, letters, and other material and commentary by the late Kashmiri politician and former Chief Minister of the Jammu and Kashmir state of Northern India. Khan mentioned this latest book brings the entirety of her work "full circle,” hoping it will enable the general reader to understand the complicated political status of J&K through the eyes of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Khan’s maternal grandfather. "The completion of 'Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s Reflections on Kashmir' brings me to the end of a significant and personally fulfilling journey,” said Khan. "While writing my preface and introduction, I realized how closely intertwined I have been with the realm that I am attempting to bring to light in 'Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s Reflections on Kashmir’.

Dr. Nyla Ali Kahn is an adjunct professor at Rose State College where she teaches English Composition I and II, and is also a visiting professor at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Khan is the author of three critically acclaimed books, including “The Fiction of Nationality in an Era of Transnationalism,” and is the editor of a collection of essays on Kashmir.

Dr. Khan's book discussion will be at Full Circle Bookstore in Oklahoma City on Thursday, January 25 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
