Rose State Unveils New Moog Advanced Manufacturing Lab And 3-D Printer Published April 24, 2019

Lab to provide aid to Tinker Air Force Base 

Rose State College hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony commemorating the launch of the MOOG Advanced Manufacturing Learning Lab and the EOS M-270 3-D Printer this week. MOOG Inc., an American-based designer and manufacturer of motion and fluid controls and control systems for applications in aerospace, defense, industrial and medical devices, provided the EOS M-270 Printer to Rose State for training, and will assist in developing a multi-level curriculum. The EOS M-270 is a metal laser powder bed infusion-based 3-D printer capable of printing a variety of materials ranging from light alloys to super alloys and composites, with Rose State College primarily printing in 17-4 Stainless Steel. 

“The aerospace realm is where Rose State is going,” said Dr. Jeanie Webb, President of Rose State College. “It’s all part of the technology enterprise we are trying to create at Rose State, and the future of Aerospace will no doubt include many and or all of these technological pieces.” 

A neighbor to Tinker, the 3-D printer will benefit military personnel as MOOG Inc. has been working side-by-side to deliver training to military and civilians already in additive manufacturing. In fact, they will be using the new 3-D printer for their next round of classes. 

“Our partners at MOOG, have been working side-by-side with our Workforce team to deliver training that ensures that our community has the most advanced and well-trained individuals in the industry,” said Webb. 

With this metal 3-D printer in place, Rose State is now able to provide valuable training opportunities and resources to Tinker Air Force Base and Oklahoma manufacturers like no other higher educational institution in Oklahoma. Rose State is strides ahead as the only higher-ed facility in Oklahoma with this quality of machine available for students and faculty. 

Rose State College President Dr. Jeanie Webb and MOOG Inc. Aircraft Group President Martin Bobak gave remarks at the ceremony and Vince Howie Director of Aerospace Commerce Economic Services (ACES) was the keynote speaker at the luncheon.
