Rose State College Celebrates ‘Topping Out’ of Student Union Renovation Published August 13, 2019

Rose State College has moved one step closer towards completion of a 48,000 sq. ft. student union renovation with a “topping out” and beam signing ceremony.

 The newly renovated student union will feature full food service options for students, including an expanded dining experience, a four-hundred seat ballroom, and multiple conference rooms available to both students and the general public. The new student union will also consolidate all student services in to one central area at the heart of the building. 

“It’s a game changer for our students,” said President Jeanie Webb. “We are currently the only urban community college in the state with housing – add a first-class student union to that, and you can see why we believe we are going to provide the best student experience of any community college in Oklahoma.” 

The steel structure skeleton has been finalized and the exterior walls are starting to be placed. 

Response to the project has been overwhelmingly positive with $550,000 committed through donations so far.

The Robert H. Croak family donated $250,000 to establish the FNB Community Bank Banquet Hall, a state-of-the-art banquet and meeting hall on the second floor. The new banquet hall will feature seating for roughly 400 people with floor to ceiling windows. 

Joe and Charlene Cole graciously donated a $100,000 gift. Their contribution establishes the Joe and Charlene Cole Student Services area of the Student Union. 

Lloyd and Glenda Eisenhour have also provided a $100,000 gift toward the bookstore which will be housed in the new facility to continue the one-stop-shop theme for students. 

Tinker Federal Credit Union has donated $100,000 to set up the TFCU Student Lounge. 

The Rose State Student Union is expected to be open in the fall of 2020 in time for the fall semester.
