How Rose State College Has Re-imagined The Community College Experience Published March 30, 2021

from the desk of dr. webbFor 50 years, Rose State College has provided a community college experience like no other to students from across Oklahoma and around the world. Since opening its doors in 1970, Rose State has grown from a one-building campus with a few hundred students to a campus of 23 buildings that welcomes thousands of students every semester.

One of the main reasons Rose State has experienced rapid, continuous growth is our commitment to preparing students to enter the workforce. Students enroll at Rose State for many reasons, whether to complete a degree, acquire a certificate, earn college credits while in high school through concurrent enrollment or transfer directly to one of our partner universities. Rose State strives to ensure these students have access to an education that positions them for success in their future ventures.

Rose State cultivates opportunities to provide unique educational experiences to our students by pursuing partnerships with our community, state agencies, sister colleges and universities, career technology centers, industry partners and Tinker Airforce Base – located directly across the street from our campus. With a focus on serving industries across the Oklahoma economy and providing students with educational choice, Rose State offers more than 50 degree programs focusing on STEM, aerospace, cyber security, nursing, medical labs, radiology, dental hygiene, criminal justice, liberal arts, social science, accounting and more.

To better serve students on campus, Rose State has carefully developed the infrastructure to provide students with skills and educations that carry them far beyond the classroom. Among the numerous resources Rose State has dedicated to student success are the Career Services Center, the Learning Resources Center, the Community Learning Center and more. As home to the Aerospace and Cyber Security Center of Workforce Excellence and the Oklahoma City Small Business Development Center, Rose State is a pipeline for workforce development and business and economic growth in Oklahoma.

As a community college offering two-year degrees and numerous professional certificates, Rose State endeavors to provide students with a similar environment to that of a four-year university while also providing savings of up to 40 percent on college tuition. With on-campus housing, a growing athletics program and a state-of-the-art Student Union that opened in the fall of 2020, Rose State offers a holistic experience to students seeking a traditional college environment.

Rose State is a college for our community. No matter what brings you to our campus, there is a place for you at Rose State!
