Radiologic Technology Program

Students are strongly encouraged to speak with a Health Sciences Advisor every semester to help stay on track and be prepared to apply. 

Admission to the Radiologic Technology professional courses is by a special application procedure. The only entry to the professional courses is the fall of each year. 

The application period is February 1 through April 15.  A link to the application will be found on this page during the application period. 

Completed applications and all requested documents must be returned to the Health Sciences Division Office by April 15 at 5:00pm.  Late applications will not be accepted. 

The Applicant Must:

1. Complete all required pre-program courses.
2. Take all qualifying tests.
3. Be admitted to Rose State College.

Procedure:

1. Applicants must be admitted to the College through the Office of Admissions before application to the Radiologic Technology Program can be made. Ensure the following items have been submitted to the RSC Admissions Office no later than two weeks prior to April 15.
   1. Basic requirements for admission to Rose State College are listed in the College Catalog.
   2. Official transcript of courses taken at other colleges and universities must be submitted to Office of Admissions for evaluation at least two weeks prior to April 15 so that those courses may be applied to the application process. These transcripts should demonstrate completion of, or current enrollment in, the four science related courses that are necessary for application to the program. These courses are: HSBC 1113 Medical Terminology*, HSBC 2114 Human Anatomy*, PSYC 1113 Introduction to Psychology, and CIT 1103 Introduction to Computers*.  These transcripts should also demonstrate completion of all four general education prerequisites. You may apply with only three general education courses completed; however, they must complete the missing course before graduation. These courses are: ENGL 1113 English Comp I, ENGL 1213 English Comp II, POLS 1482 American Federal Government, and HIST 1483 US Hist to 1877 (OR) HSXT 1493 US Hist since 1877.

      These courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.

      In-Person Anatomy Laboratory Class or Mandatory Open Lab Sessions: Due to the rigor of the program and the importance of a human anatomy base of knowledge, the Radiologic Technology Program requires the laboratory portion of your Human Anatomy Course to have been in-person and not virtual, online, or distance learning.

      These transcripts should demonstrate completion of, or current enrollment in, at least three of the four general education courses that are necessary for application to the program.

      *Courses listed with asterisks must have been completed within 5 years.

   3. Assessment Test Results: Accuplacer scores will be honored for three years. These tests are given in the Student Services Building. Contact the Testing Center at (405) 733-7320 for information. A photo ID is required. The Study Guide with practice tests will be provided upon request from the Student Development Center, or may be found on the Rose State College website: https://accuplacerpractice.collegeboard.org/

      Results are available immediately and entered into the student’s file on the College database. If the assessment scores are below the minimum standard required, the student must seek academic advisement for remediation. Minimum required scores must be submitted by the end of the spring semester.   

      1. Reading Skills: A minimum score of 250-Accuplacer is required for admission to the program.
      2. Math1 Skills: A minimum score of 250-Acculpacer is required for admission to the program.
      3. Writing Skills: A minimum score of 250-Accuplacer is required for admission to the program.
   4. ACT or SAT Score: ACT or SAT exam scores must be submitted to the program. For application purposes, the results are valid for 3-years only.

            The residual ACT exam is given at RSC on the 2nd Friday monthly. Call 733-7320 to pre-register. The national ACT is given six times each year on Saturdays. http://actstudent.org/regist/dates.html  Cost is approximately $55 for residual or national ACT.

   2. Submit the Radiologic Technology Program Application to the Program Office and include:
      1. If applicable: Evidence of previous or current work experience in a health-related field, validating documentation (i.e., a letter from an employer on company letterhead) must be submitted with the Program application for it to be considered. Completion of RSC Phlebotomy Cert. Program is worth one point in this category.

   Mandatory Orientation:  Applicants must attend a Program orientation as part of the application process.  Program faculty and current students will convey important information during the two-hour orientation.  Applicants will learn what is expected from the clinical assignments and course work.  There will be two dates available for this mandatory orientation following the application period.

   Criteria for selection: Entry into the Program is based on a point system with a possible 100 points total.  The minimum number of points it takes to gain acceptance will vary each year based on the competitiveness of the applicant pool.

   Applicants will be notified after June 1^st whether or not the have been conditionally accepted for the fall semester. Additional advisement will be given to declined applicants to discuss possible academic deficiencies should they wish to apply in the future. 

   Selection Process

   Up to twenty students are selected each year.  Applicants are numerically ranked based upon the point scale below. A mandatory orientation session is scheduled following the application deadline and prior to the selection of a class.

   All applicants are notified by mail of their admission status after June 1.

   Criteria for Program Selection

   All applicants are reviewed by the criteria listed below. The highest numerically ranked applicants are selected.

   There are 100 total points possible. The minimum number of points needed for acceptance will vary each year based on the competitiveness of the applicant pool.
