The Technology Associates in Applied Science degree encompasses a broad spectrum of technical specialties related to electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.  In addition material analysis and quality assurance are integral parts of the program.  The Technology Program emphasizes the theory and application of technical principles and provides students with the hands-on knowledge to function as a skilled technician.

According to the Department of Labor and Statistics, average salary for Technicians ranges from $19 to $33 per hour depending upon experience and level of responsibilities indicative to the position. In the State of Oklahoma, the Department shows an annual Mean Salary of $49k-$52k per year.

Technicians are generally required to complete one to two years of specialized education, usually leading to an Associate's degree. While technicians are not responsible for designing products or systems, job satisfaction comes from "hands-on" involvement with these products and systems. Technicians typically install, test, maintain and ensure quality assurance of products that are integral to many industry sectors.

Program Outcomes

Rose State College’s Technology Associate in Applied Science degree program is designed to prepare students to work in highly specialized and complex industries such as aerospace, energy, medical, and manufacturing.

The Associate in Applied Science degree program provides students with the technical skills and knowledge that apply to electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and components.  The goal of the program is for students to master the subject matter based upon traditional classroom instruction and laboratory exercises.  The expected program outcome is to provide a comprehensive education for students to enter the workforce.

Upon completion the graduate will be prepared to:

  1. Apply the fundamental technical knowledge and skills to effectively support product design and repair.
  2. Apply mathematics, physics, and information technology skills to analyze and solve technology related problems.
  3. Conduct tests and measurements.
  4. Effectively communicate, both written and orally.
  5. Understand and apply electronic and mechanical theory to circuits, analog or digital devices, and/or mechanical systems.
