President's Comments to Campus Incident Published October 6, 2015

I wanted to keep everyone informed regarding an incident that occurred on the Rose State College campus on Monday morning, October 5, 2015. A foot pursuit of two burglary suspects cut across the Rose State College grounds in the early morning hours. One of the suspects pulled a gun on officers-which prompted an officer involved shooting.

We are extremely grateful for the quick response...

We are extremely grateful for the quick response from Midwest City Police. Officers were on scene in less than 2 minutes, and the entire incident was brought to a conclusion in less than 5 minutes.

In addition, I want to bring attention to the extraordinary actions of Midwest City Chief of Police, Brandon Clabes. He responded to the scene and did an exceptional job of calming the public while ensuring the safety of our students and staff. Another group I want to commend is the excellent staff of G4S, our campus security team. All three officers on duty responded to protect and assist, ensuring the well-being of our campus as well as the students and faculty in our student housing complex.

We are committed to ensuring our students have a safe place to learn and thrive. I thank each of you for your commitment to our processes and the safety of our students.

Regards,
Dr. Jeanie Webb
