Midwest City, Okla. – This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Women’s Leadership Conference at Rose State College which aims to propel women forward through education.  Each year, a committee of women meet to select the topic and try to pick something unique that has real world application for the participants and will bring forth change and empowerment for those who attend. The annual event is co-chaired this year by Tara Hall, Professor of Sociology at Rose State who said, “This topic was especially important to me because I’m a first generation college student and a sociology professor. My two greatest passions are gender equality and education.”

The keynote address is being delivered by President Jeanie Webb and Regent Betty J.C. Wright who are both first generation college students and will share insight on how education shaped their stories. Each participant will receive a free copy of Sonia Sotomayor’s autobiography, My Beloved World. The conference will be held in the Rose State College Professional Training and Education Center on March 25th, 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The popularity of the conference is reflected in the high demand to attend - registration capacity was 125 and filled within 24 hours. However, a waiting list is available. To be added to the waiting list, call the Social Science division office at 733.7413.
