In addition to three panel discussions, the symposium will also feature a keynote address from Shahbaz Taseer, a Pakistani entrepreneur from Lahore, Pakistan, and the son of the former governor of Punjab, Salman Taseer.

Khan will join Saiba Varma, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at UC San Diego and a visiting professor at Colgate University; and Beena Sarwar, a Pakistani journalist, writer, and filmmaker, as they discuss the various political, cultural, religious and economic impact of the Kashmir region on the surrounding areas. The panel, titled “Imagining Kashmir: Finding the Country Without a Post Office,” will be the second of three panel discussions during the one-day symposium. According to Kahn, her focus will be on nation building, conflict resolution and forging coalitions across ideological and religious divides to usher in the peace process, drawing from her latest book, “Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s Reflections on Kashmir.”
