Rose State Swim Club To Compete At CCS National Meet Published March 28, 2018

Six Rose State Swimmers to Compete in Atlanta, GA, April 6-8

The Rose State College Swim Club will have six individual swimmers compete at the upcoming College Club Swimming (CCS) 2018 National Championships April 6-8. The meet, hosted at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga, will see the Raider swim club compete against swim clubs from much larger public and private colleges and universities, including Auburn, Duke, Florida State, Michigan State, and Texas A&M to name a few. Rose State College, in only its second year as a team, is the only Oklahoma school to attend the national meet, and the only 2-year community college to compete.

Competing at the 2018 National Championships will be:

• Madison Benedetto – 100 Individual Medley
• Emily Siddiqui – 100 Breaststroke
• Clayton Joseph (C.J.) Clark – 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle
• Christopher Nation – 50 Breaststroke, 100 Breaststroke
• Ryan Wade – 50 Freestyle
• Steven “Shepherd” Hall – 50 Butterfly

The four men will also compete in the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Only two four-year schools in Oklahoma offer varsity swim programs, Oklahoma Baptist University and Oklahoma Christian University. Rose State is the only two-year school in the state of Oklahoma to offer competitive swimming, as either club or varsity. “The progress this program has made is remarkable,” said Head Coach Kim Queri. “Two years ago this program didn’t exist. To be able to compete at the level we do says a lot about our program and our kids.”

This will be the first National Championship under direction of Collegiate Club Swimming, which was recently recognized by U.S. Master Swimming, the governing body for adult swimming in the U.S. Formerly known as the East Coast Collegiate National Championships, the CCS National Championships has grown in to the largest and fastest collegiate swim meet outside the NCAA, which saw 2,000 athletes from 93 universities compete in 2017.
