Assistant Coach Ryon Butts takes over as head coach for the Raiders

Rose State College is proud to announce the appointment of a new Head Coach for its baseball program, current assistant coach Ryon Butts. Butts has served as an assistant coach at Rose State for almost six years. During his tenure at Rose, Butts has worked both sides of the ball with the Raiders and has coached all positions.

“Ryon is a great teacher of the game," said Coty Cooper, former Raider Head Coach, and incoming Athletic Director at Rose State College.

Ryon Butts knows the Raiders well. As a player, Butts attended Rose State College after graduating from Edmond North High School in 2009. Making a name behind the plate, Butts played two years at Rose State before transferring to Southern Nazarene University for his final two years of collegiate baseball. After finishing at Southern Nazarene, Butt transitioned to coaching, eventually landing as Rose State's assistant coach in 2013.

Cooper described Butts as a tough, hard-nosed player, and all praised his leadership abilities. “You won’t find a more loyal guy than Ryon. He's been a great assistant for us and I'm excited for him to step into this new opportunity,” said Cooper.

The 2019 Raiders currently sit at third in the NJCAA Region II Division 1 standings with a conference record of 16-10 (24-16 overall). The Raiders will finish the season on a four-game series this weekend against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.
