Rose State College hosted an awards banquet in September to honor distinguished alumni who have made significant contributions to the college and the local community.

This year, two distinguished alumni, Dr. Dean Fisher and John Primo, were inducted into the Rose State College Alumni Hall of Fame.

“Dr. Dean Fisher and John Primo have both dedicated much of their careers to Rose State and led by example of what it means to be a Raider,” Rose State President Dr. Jeanie Webb said. “I can’t think of two more deserving alumni to be added to Rose State Alumni Hall of Fame this year.”

Dr. Fisher is a 1982 graduate and longtime former employee at Rose State. He has an extensive background in higher education, having worked for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education before joining the Rose State staff in 1987. Dr. Fisher began his tenure at Rose State as assistant director of financial aid and retired in 2015 as vice president for student affairs and enrollment. He holds an associate degree in general studies, a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history and a doctorate in higher education leadership. Dr. Fisher is the current president of the College of Southern Idaho.

Primo graduated from Rose State in 1987 and continued to serve the college full-time for 35 years until his retirement as vice president of information technology in 2022. Primo served 12 years in the Air Force Reserves as a non-commissioned officer. In addition, Primo is the author of nine novels and established an endowed scholarship with the Rose State College Foundation in name of his late wife, April Primo.
