Intelligent.com, a trusted resource for program rankings and higher education planning, has included Rose State College (Rose State) in its Best Online Small Business Management Degree Program list for 2023. The research identifies top schools in the state based on tuition costs, the number of credits required to graduate and the online coursework delivery format.

Intelligent.com implements a unique methodology that ranks each institution on a scale from zero to 100 across six categories. The scoring system compares each school to tuition costs, admission, retention and graduation rates, faculty, reputation and resources provided for online students.

“Our Small Business Management Degree Program guides the students through the creation and management of a small business while providing them with the necessary educational tools for success beyond the classroom,” Rose State President Dr. Jeanie Webb said. “We are proud to be recognized for this program and are excited to follow the continued success stories of our students upon completion of their studies.”

Studies show that obtaining a degree increases income substantially, with graduates earning 84% more than those with only high school diplomas or those without a completed GED. The percentage difference in earnings continues to grow with higher learning degrees such as a master's, doctoral or professional degree, as the unemployment rate decreases to as much as 1.6% for those with a doctorate.

“In our small business program, students learn to be an entrepreneur and use industry-recognized tools such as feasibility analysis, business plans and financial projections to prepare the student in pursuit of starting and/or elevating their own business,” Rose State Dean Dr. Charles DeSassure said.

“The next step in expanding the small business program is to prepare students for the Love's Entrepreneur's Cup competition,” stated Professor Walter Miller, who teaches small business management courses in the program. “This competition prepares students for real-world experiences and enhances their entrepreneurial skills while expanding post-graduation career options”
