Local Coffee Shop to operate café in recently renovated Learning Resource Center

Midwest City, OK: Rose State College is proudly announcing a partnership with The Underground Coffee to operate its café in the newly renovated Learning Resource Center. Located in the southwest corner of the LRC and separated by glass doors, this 1,200 sq. ft. café will offer most of the same food and drink options available at the other Underground Coffee locations, with extended hours from that of the library. Patrons of the café can expect to see brand new café-style tables and lounge chairs in addition to the new equipment for preparing their coffee.

“People have been anticipating and expecting this,” said Chris Meyer, Dean of the Learning Resource Center. “Even if you don’t frequent the coffee shop, it adds a finishing touch to a beautiful academic building and adds a recognizable feature common to most college campuses.” According to Meyer, almost every “wish list” during the renovation process contained a coffee shop.

Jacob Hussain, co-owner of the Underground Coffee says it was meant to be. “Several of our employees are students [at Rose State], and we were told that there was a student council lobbying to get us on campus. We’re really excited.” This will be the third Underground Coffee location in Midwest City, joining the original at 1621 S. Douglas, and a location on Tinker Air Force base. The Underground Coffee features house specials such as the “Birthday Cake Shake,” the “Holy Mocha, Batman!” and the “$87 Latte,” as well as your traditional cup of coffee.

The new café in the Learning Resource Center is anticipated to open late July.
