2018 Fun Walk hosted by the College Math Department

Midwest City, Okla. – The Rose State Math Department is hosting a Pi Day event on March 14th. The 3.14 km route (a little less than 2 miles) is a walk/run/bike event at the Rose State Wellness Center. Treadmills and bikes already on site will be used to calculate an individuals’ distance.

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th around the world. Pi is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant – the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter – which is approximately 3.14159.

Prizes will be given to the 3rd, 31st and 314th participant to complete the challenge. The 3.14 km event is open to all Rose State faculty, staff, and students. Community patrons with memberships to the Rose State Wellness are invited to participate.

The Rose State Math department hopes to make Pi Day an annual event.
