Rose State College to Host Pi K for Pi Day on March 14th Published March 6, 2018 by Tamara Pratt

2018 Fun Walk hosted by the College Math Department

Midwest City, Okla. – The Rose State Math Department is hosting a Pi Day event on March 14^th. The 3.14 km route (a little less than 2 miles) is a walk/run/bike event at the Rose State Wellness Center. Treadmills and bikes already on site will be used to calculate an individuals’ distance.

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14^th around the world. Pi is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant – the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter – which is approximately 3.14159.

Prizes will be given to the 3^rd, 31^st and 314^th participant to complete the challenge. The 3.14 km event is open to all Rose State faculty, staff, and students. Community patrons with memberships to the Rose State Wellness are invited to participate.

The Rose State Math department hopes to make Pi Day an annual event.
