Dr. Amy Hurst has been an instructor at Rose State College since 2006. She currently teaches sections of Microbiology, Introduction to Biology (non-majors), General Biology I, and Biotechnology and is the coordinator for the Life Sciences department. She received both her Bachelors and PhD from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK.  While receiving her doctorate she completed research on estrogen receptors, presented her work at several conferences for the Society for the Study of Reproduction, and published in Biology of Reproduction. She performed post doctoral research in protein biochemistry. Fox 25 recently featured Dr. Hurst in a segment titled, “How to Get Rid of Germs on Your Shoes.”

 

Dr. Hurst is married to Travis Hurst and has two sons, Tanner and Logan. Both boys are active in academics, basketball, baseball, and running. In her spare time she enjoys running half-marathons, drawing, and reading.
