Social Sciences, General Option

The goal of the Social Sciences Associate in Arts degree program, General option, is to provide students the foundation necessary to transfer to a related baccalaureate degree program at a four-year college or university.  Specific objectives include:

  • A broad based introduction to the Social Sciences.
  • An understanding of a variety of specific areas of the social sciences to gain a sense of how they interrelate.
  • A general education foundation with which to learn to communicate, to think critically, and to analyze problems.

The Program Requirements contain the competencies needed for all Social Sciences graduates.  Successful completion of these courses (with a grade of "C" or better) will demonstrate mastery of those competencies. Degree requirements (PDF)
